Sectional competition for the Varsity begins Wed

On Saturday October 24th, the Webster Aquatic Center played host to this year’s Monroe County Coaches Invitational swim meet.  Known as the MCCI, this year’s competition featured seventeen teams and provided the Pittsford JV S’Women with one final opportunity to qualify for the Section Five Championships scheduled for this week. 
In the competition’s first event, the 200 Medley Relay, Stephanie Andrews, Kenzie Ward, Sydney Ryan and Anna Grazulis took first place out of seventeen entries with a time of 2:07.31.  Among the “B” relay entries, the foursome of Kaelan Fennell, Andrea Meyer, Lydia and Audrey Hunt placed first with a time of 2:17.27. Meagan Branch placed sixth in the 200 Free with a time of 2:24.06 while Caroline Curran, Caroline Tuttle and Rebecca Warner finished in 10th (2:26.61), 16th (2:30.94) and 18th (2:31.81) respectively.  Anna Grazulis, Jenna Mattina, Lainy Hummel, Audrey Hunt, Kaelan Fennell and Emily Carroll, swam times qualifying them for Sectional consideration.
Courtney Stern picked up fifth place (2:46.03) in the 200 IM and Laura Petishnok finished eleventh (2:50.19).  Sydney Ryan, Jane Zhu and Lydia Hunt also participated swimming times qualifying them for Sectional consideration. In the 50 Free, Kenzie Ward took fifth place with a time of 29.46.  Quite an accomplishment considering there were well over 100 entries in this event that swam “JV” cut times. Also placing for the Pittsford JV S’Women were Alyssa Likly who placed 14th (29.89), Emily Waldman who placed 31st (31.03), Katie Slebodnik who placed 44th (31.60) and Anisha Singh who finished in 52nd place (32.24).  Also swimming the event were Stephanie Andrews, Olivia Waldman, Isabella Joynt and Briana Viera; all earning Sectional consideration.
Diving for Pittsford was Courtney Stern who placed sixth with a score of 109.75.
Alyssa Likly placed second (1:16.67) in the 100 Butterfly and Genevieve Yaeger finished in fourth (1:17.82). Briana Viera came in tenth with a time of 1:22.79.  Also competiting in the event but swimming times fast enough for Sectional consideration were Sydney Ryan and Lydia Hunt. In the 100 Free event, Isabella Joynt, Olivia Waldman and Laura Petishnok finished in 9th (1:05.16), 13th (1:05.91) and 15th (1:06.25) place respectively.  Rebecca Warner and Katie Slebodnik finished in 39th (1:09.27) and 42nd (1:09.53) place.  Earning Sectional consideration were Stephanie Andrews, Anna Grazulis and Jenna Mattina.
Meagan Branch finished fourth in the 500 Free with a time of 6:25.54.  Nina Daniels and Caroline Tuttle placed seventh (6:43.45) and tenth (6:48.06). Audrey Hunt and Lainy Hummel, who also participated in the event, swam times qualifying them for Sectional consideration. In the 200 Freestyle Relay, Pittsford “A” team placed first.  Anna Grazulis, Sydney Ryan, Jane Zhu and Stephanie Andrews swam the event in a time of 1:51.11. Pittsford’s “B” relay of Emily Carroll, Isabella Joynt, Kenzie Ward and Olivia Waldman placed first in their heat with a time of 1:57.17.
Caroline Tuttle tied for fourth place (1:15.63) in the 100 Backstroke while teammates Anisha Singh and Olivia Gallagher finished in 21st (1:21.73) and 22nd (1:21.90) place. Earning Sectional consideration were Julia Cavanagh and Kaelan Fennell. In the 100 Breaststroke, Genevieve Yaeger finished eighth with a time of 1:25.99. Emily Waldman swam a 1:28.88 to place 17th and Nina Daniels placed 25th (1:32.05). Kenzie Ward, Jane Zhu and Andrea Meyer all earned Sectional qualifying times.
Lainy Hummel, Jenna Mattina, Lydia and Audrey Hunt won the 400 Freestyle Relay with a time of 4:05.00 and in the “B” heat, Meagan Branch, Emily Carroll, Olivia Waldman and Julia Cavanagh placed second with a time of 4:25.60.
For the Varsity team, the Section Five Championship prelims and finals are being held Wednesday November 4th and Friday November 6th at the Webster Aquatic Center (5:00pm).
