Next up, the Lakers of Webster 

After an eleven-day hiatus from competition, both the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams were eager to race as they faced off against the Patriots of Penfield. Jumping out to an early lead, were members of the 200 Medley Relay (Erica Bryson, Sarah Demspey, Mallory Ward and Kala Wilkins) that took first place with a time of 1:55.14.  Scoring additional points for the team was the relay group of Jennifer Proper, Amanda House, Danielle Phillips and Elizabeth Maier who came in third with a time of 1:59.97.
In the 200 Free, Pittsford went 2-3-4.  Maddie Ashworth, Danielle Proper and Olivia Holodnik swam a 2:01.43, 2:06.85 and 2:08.22 respectively. Sarah Dempsey won the 200 IM with a time of 2:17.82 while Danielle Phillips (2:21.03) and Jennifer Proper (2:22.61) took third and fourth. The time of 25.79 was enough for Kala Wilkins to win the 50 Free event while teammates Elizabeth Maier and Shannon Dempsey placed second and third with times of 26.30 and 26.78.
Heading into the diving portion of the competition, Pittsford led 42.5 to 19.5.   A second place finish (170.05) by Carrie DeMoulin helped the S’Women maintain their lead but the Patriots did manage to pick up eleven points; narrowing that margin.  The score was now 46.5 to 30.5.
After a brief warm up, the meet resumed with the 100 Butterfly.  Jennifer Proper placed first with a time of 1:04.03.  Coming in third and fourth were Kala Wilkins (1:07.50) and Amanda House (1:07.78). In the 100 Free, the team went 1-3-4 again.  Sarah Dempsey was the fastest competitor with a time of 56.65. Olivia Holodnik (59.55) and Danielle Proper (1:00.41) contributed with third and fourth place finishes.
Pittsford went 1-2-3 in the 500 Free.  Erica Bryson placed first with a time of 5:25.56 followed by Danielle Phillips (5:41.70) and Katie Hart (5:44.21). The combination of Shannon Dempsey, Jenny Riley, Elizabeth Maier and Kala Wilkins took first in the 200 Free Relay (1:42.76).  Olivia Holodnik, Katie Hart, Maddie Ashworth and Jennifer Proper finished second with a time of 1:48.07.
Scoring points in the 100 Backstroke were Erica Bryson and Maddie Ashworth who placed second and fourth with times of 1:05.20 and 1:05.42.  Coming in sixth was Jenny Riley. In the 100 Breaststroke, Mallory Ward took first place (1:11.16) while Shannon Dempsey (1:12.28) and Amanda House (1:15.99) took third and fourth.
Perhaps one of the most exciting swims of the meet occurred in the day’s final event when the combination of Sarah Dempsey, Erica Bryson, Jenny Riley and Shannon Dempsey took first (3:49.15) in the 400 Free Relay. Pittsford trailed through much of the race until Shannon came up big in the last 25 yards to touch out the Penfield relay (3:49.73) in thrilling finish. Third place went to the combo of Jennifer Conklin, Danielle Phillips, Danielle Proper and Maddie Ashworth with a time of 3:58.94.

Final score:  Pittsford 110.5, Penfield 72.5.

The Junior Varsity S’Women faced a very competitive Penfield squad.  Although in the end victorious, the score was close throughout the meet. In the first event, the 200 Medley Relay, Pittsford scored points going 1-3 with the combination of Stephanie Andrews, Sydney Ryan, Kenzie Ward and Audrey Hunt taking first with a time of 2:07.27. Taking third place in a time of 2:14.37 was the relay team of Kaelan Fennell, Lydia Hunt Andrea Meyer and Isabella Joynt. Finishing in fourth was Julia Cavanagh, Genvieve Yaeger, Emily Waldman, and Laura Petishnok.
Anna Grazulis won the 200 Free with a time of 2:11.15 and Jenna Mattina took third with a time of 2:16.70. Their 1-3 finish contributed nine points; Pittsford lead Penfield by a score of 19-11.  Coming in sixth place was Caroline Tuttle. In the 200 IM, Sydney Ryan came in second (2:32.44) while Lydia Hunt took third (2:38.55).  Finishing in sixth was Laura Petishnok.  The 50 Free was won by Stephanie Andrews in a time of 27.59.  Isabella Joynt finished fifth (29.60) and picked up a point for the team while Olivia Waldman placed sixth.
In the diving completion, Courtney Stern picked up third place with a score of 50.45.  Penfield took the lead (39-36) at this point but Courtney’s contribution kept the score close.  Up next was the 100 Butterfly. Sydney Ryan captured first place with a time of with a 1:11.48.  Alyssa Likly (1:19.46) and Genevieve Yaeger (1:20.02) picked up points for fourth and fifth place finishes.
Stephanie Andrews, Anna Grazulis and Lydia Hunt placed 2-3-5 in the 100 Free with times of 1:01.32, 1:01.35 and 1:03.76 respectively.  While Audrey Hunt won the 500 Free with a time of 5:51.51.  Also competing in the event were Lainy Hummel (6:06.51) who placed third and Megan Branch who placed fifth (6:21.03).
To demonstrate how close the meet was, the score after the two freestyle events stood at Pittsford 63, Penfield 60.
In the 200 Free Relay, the team’s first and third place finishes totaled ten points which extended the team’s lead 73 to 64.  The relay team of Anna Grazulis, Jane Zhu, Sydney Ryan and Stephanie Andrews took first with a time of 1:51.92 while the combo of Alyssa Likly, Lydia Hunt, Emily Caroll and Jenna Mattina finished third (1:58.88).   Finishing fifth was the relay team of Katie Siebodnik, Caroline Curran, Genevieve Yaeger, Caroline Tuttle. In the remaining two individual events, the 100 Back and 100 Breaststroke, Pittsford score sufficient points to put a Penfield victory out of reach. Kaelan Fennell took third place in the 100 Backstroke (1:14.36) while Emily Carroll finished fourth (1:16.27) and Julia Cavanagh picked up fifth place (1:16.73). The 100 Breaststroke was won by Kenzie Ward with a time of 1:17.57 while Jane Zhu finished second (1:19.72) and Andrea Meyer took fourth (1:22.78).  The score was now 91 - 78.  
In the 400 Relay, the combination of Isabella Joynt, Jane Zhu, Olivia Waldman and Kenzie Ward finished fourth while Emily Waldman, Courtney Stern, Katie Siebodnik and Caroline Curran placed fifth. Sealing Pittsford’s victory however was the group of Kaelan Fennell, Lainy Hummel, Jenna Mattina and Audrey Hunt, whose second place (4:11.75) finish earned enough points (four) to declare Pittsford the winner by a score of 95 to 88.

Last Saturday, the Varsity team along with a select group of Jr. Varsity teammates traveled to Hamilton College for the Empire Invitational.  In addition to the Panthers of Pittsford, teams from around the state were in attendance. They included the Braves of Canandaigua, Warriors of Liverpool, Spartans of New Hartford, Eagles of Bethlehem and the Little Red of Ithaca. Featuring an eight-lane competitive swimming pool, all 24 finishers (3 heats) scored points for their teams.
By the end, Pittsford proved victorious winning the meet by a score of 1,248 points while second place went to Canandaigua with 1,038 points. Coming in third was Ithaca High School.
In the 200 Medley Relay, the ‘A’ relay of Erica Bryson, Mallory Ward, Sarah Dempsey and Kala Wilkins went 1:56.53 to take second place while Jennifer Proper, Danielle Phillips, Amanda House and Elizabeth Maier took seventh with a time of 2:00.90. In twelfth place with a time of 2:07.03 was the relay team of Olivia Holodnik, Danielle Proper, Jennifer Conklin and Erin Connolly and coming in right behind them with a time of 2:07.98 was the group of Stephanie Andrews, Kenzie Ward, Sydney Ryan and Anna Grazulis.
The Panthers went 6-7-9-10 in the 200 Freestyle.  Danielle Proper swam a 2:08.81.  Jennifer Conklin went 2:09.14 while Jenny Riley swam the event in a 2:09.84 and Katie Hart went 2:10.78. Sarah Dempsey won the 200 IM in a time of 2:14.62 while Jennifer Proper (2:22.36) and Danielle Phillips (2:22.57) placed sixth and seventh. Amanda House picked up eleventh place with a time of 2:24.80. In the 50 Free, Kala Wilkins took third place with a time of 25.72.  Elizabeth Maier came in fifth with a time of 26.11 while Shannon Dempsey placed eleventh (26.49) and Erin Connolly (27.97) came in fifteenth.
It was a competitive field in the diving event.  Carrie DeMoulin picked up second place overall with a score of 313.65; enough for a personal best.
Sarah Dempsey, this time competing in the 100 Butterfly, won the event with a time of 1:01.44.  Erica Bryson placed fourth with a time of 1:03.07.  Jennifer Conklin and Sydney Ryan placed tenth (1:08.54) and thirteenth (1:10.86) respectively. Kala Wilkins placed fourth (56.59) in the 100 Free and Shannon Dempsey came in fifth with a time of 57.75.  Elizabeth Maier finished eighth swimming the event in 58.48 while Erin Connolly took fourteenth (1:01.50).
Third place went to Maddie Ashworth who swam the 500 Freestyle in a time of 5:23.37.  Her teammate Danielle Proper took sixth (5:32.92) while Olivia Holodnik and Katie Hart finished in ninth and eleventh place with times of 5:44.89 and 5:46.60.
The ‘A’ combo of Shannon Dempsey, Elizabeth Maier, Jenny Riley and Kala Wilkins won the 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:43.14.  Placing fourth was the ‘B’ group of Olivia Holodnik, Maddie Ashworth, Mallory Ward and Jennifer Proper (1:49.16). Pittsford’s ‘D’ relay of Stephanie Andrews, Katie Hart, Anna Grazulis and Lainy Hummel placed ninth (1:52.73) while the grouping of Sydney Ryan, Isabella Joynt, Audrey Hunt and Kenzie Ward finished thirteenth (1:56.08).
In the 100 Back, Jennifer Proper took fourth (1:04.71) place and Jenny Riley finished sixth (1:06.04).  Erica Bryson (1:06.55) and Maddie Ashworth (1:06.67) placed ninth and tenth. Mallory Ward placed third in the 100 Breast with a time of 1:10.95.  Right behind her was Danielle Phillips who placed fourth (1:11.62).  Seventh place went to Amanda House (1:15.07) and Kenzie Ward finished in twelfth place swimming the event in a 1:17.67.
The 400 Freestyle Relay signaled that the meet was drawing to an end. The ‘A’ team of Sarah Dempsey, Jenny Riley, Erica Bryson and Shannon Dempsey placed first with a time 3:46.94.  Others competing in this event included the combination of Olivia Holodnik, Amanda House, Danielle Phillips and Maddie Ashworth who placed sixth (3:58.33) and Katie Hart, Erin Connolly, Danielle Proper and Jennifer Conklin who finished tenth (4:04.52).  Thirteenth place went to Stephanie Andrews, Lainy Hummel, Kenzie Ward and Anna Grazulis who swam the event in a time of 4:14.42.

Once again, depth and competitive fire proved to be a winning combination for the Pittsford S’Women.

Next up for the Panthers will be the Lakers of Webster tomorrow, Thursday October 15th @ the Webster Aquatic Center.  The meet begins at 4:30pm
